The meeting started with an open session on the SOA Working Group,
conducted by Working Group members Ed Harrington, Chris Greenslade, Staurt Boardman, and
Bob Laird. This gave a description of the Working Group itself
and of each of its projects.
This was followed by two members-only sessions.
The first of these was a joint session with the Semantic Interoperability
Working Group on Information Architecture for SOA. It pursued the discussion
that had started in the conference workshop
on this topic the previous day. It agreed on the need for a
reference model - perhaps with similar characteristics to the 7-layer
OSI reference model - for semantic interoperability in the context of
SOA, and discussed some possible approaches.
The second members-only session was a joint session with the Security Forum
on Security and SOA. It reviewed the current status, progress to date,
and planned deliverables of the Security and SOA project being conducted
by the Security Forum and the SOA Working Group.
Progress on the SOA Working Group's work program will continue
through teleconferences. The next face-to-face meeting will be
at The Open Group conference in San Francisco in the week of
28 January 2008.
An Information Architecture Reference Model project will be
established within the Semantic Interoperability Working Group.
All SOA Working Group members will be able - and encouraged - to
participate.
