Prior to the meeting, The Open Group Board
had approved publication of Version 1 of the Universal
Data Element Framework (UDEF),
and of the specification defining the procedure for extending the UDEF.
Also, there had been a session of the Semantic Interoperability
stream of the Architecture Practitioners Conference in which Ron Schuldt,
UDEF Forum Chair, described UDEF as a Semantic Interoperability enabler
within the enterprise, and Chris Harding, Forum Director,
described Version 1 of the UDEF and how to use it.
The purpose of this Interested Parties meeting was to enable participants to gain
a deeper understanding of the UDEF,
and of activities of the UDEF Forum and Interested Parties Group.
