Identity Management Members Meeting
Objective of Meeting
The objectives of the meeting were to:
- Approve the Implementation Catalog survey form for use to collect information about
Identity management products,
- Progress the draft White Paper; and
- Scope the Enterprise Architecture for Identity Management activity and identify
deliverables.
Summary
The Implementation Catalog survey form was approved for use.
The draft White Paper was reviewed, and additional material was identified for
currently empty sections. It was agreed not to seek further material after that identified
at the meeting has been incorporated, but to proceed to finalize and publish the White
Paper as soon as possible.
The proposed scope and deliverables for the Enterprise Architecture for Identity
Management activity were agreed, as follows:
Title |
Enterprise Information Technology Architecture
for Identity Management |
Objective |
To develop an explanation of how to design
identity management into enterprise IT infrastructure that will benefit information
systems architects. |
Scope |
The activity will cover all aspects of
identity management and its use in all kinds of enterprise. It will concentrate
particularly on the role of identity management in boundaryless information flow. It will
be undertaken by the Identity Management Work Area, calling on the resources of its
sponsoring forums (the Directory Interoperability, Messaging, Mobile Management, and
Security Forums), and liaising with the Architecture Forum. The intended audience will be
information systems architects working in and for enterprises. They should benefit by
gaining a better conceptual understanding of the role of identity management and how to
design for it and, more importantly, through specific practical recommendations and
advice. |
Deliverables |
The principal deliverable will be a set of web
pages on Designing Identity Management for the Enterprise. They could also be published in
book form. |
Next Steps
The next steps are:
- Collect information about identity management products for the Implementation Catalog,
- Complete the White Paper; and
- Carry out the Enterprise Architecture for Identity Management activity in
accordance with the agreed scope and deliverables. (But for resourcing reasons this should
not commence until work on the White Paper is substantially complete.)
