Morning
Session
Most
of the morning session was spent determining an advocacy strategy, based
on consensus from the RTES Forum for sustainability and support for
current and future Protection Profiles within NIAP.
There
was also a good discussion on which Protection Profiles for the MILS Architecture
should be created or extended, and critical to that discussion was the
need to build consensus around priorities for that work within the
Forum.
Further
discussion on the value of common APIs was also a hot topic during the
Strategy session.
There
were presentations by Joe Bergmann on who we need to work with in what
government agencies to further the objectives of the RTES Forum.
And associated with that was the action to update the RTES
Roadmap and Strategy to reflect group consensus on the RTES near and
far-term objectives and strategy.
With
respect to The Open Group’s upcoming Hong Kong Conference, the RTES
focus will be on Dependability through Assurance.
Joe Bergmann will be publishing an agenda, securing speakers,
attending the Conference, and will be representing the RTES interests.
Although there will not be an RTES Member Meeting in Hong Kong,
if you have colleagues or business partners in that part of the globe,
please encourage them to attend.
There
will, however, be an interim RTES Forum meeting open to all members that
will be held during the early November timeframe and is to be hosted by
one of the members.
We will be solidifying details in the near future and sending
them out through the RTES Forum member mailing list.
Afternoon
Session
The
afternoon session featured a presentation on Mobile Devices (including
SCADA) as they apply to Real-Time Applications by Steve Venema from
Boeing. This
sparked good discussion on where this fits within Real-Time and how the
RTES Forum should progress the challenges of the mobility domain.
Determine
date and location of next RTES Member Meeting in the US and provide
agenda and invites by early September. Focus on encouraging
participation from all RTES Forum members.
Prioritize
Protection Profile work and adjust Roadmap accordingly.
Update
Roadmap and RTES Forum Strategy to reflect all outcomes from this
Toronto meeting – distribute to all members for feedback and consensus
prior to the next member meeting.
