All Members of The Open Group are members of either the Customer
Council or the Supplier Council.
In our All Members meetings, the Customer Council and Supplier
Council join together to involve all members of The Open Group in
sharing issues and concerns that are of common interest, across all
Forums and Working Groups.
In this Conference, the Members Council sponsored a
series of short (5-minutes) "Spotlight" interludes for each
Forum and Working Group in The Open Group, in which the Chair (or other
nominee) of several Open Group Forums and Working Groups
was invited to highlight their activities which explain the value-add of their
Forum/Working Group to Open Group members, and also to
give a glimpse of their forward plans and deliverables (Roadmap) as defined by the Members
Councils.
The Members Councils
also arranged a Members Lunch on the Tuesday to explain the value-add
that the Members Councils are aiming to deliver to the whole membership.
Continuing the Members Councils sponsored 5-minute
"Spotlight" interludes first introduced during plenary sessions in the
San Francisco (January 2008) conference, a member-representative or Chair of the following Forums
and Working Groups presented an outline of their Councils-style Roadmap,
highlighting their key achievements and main work items. Their Roadmaps
are all available on the Members Councils web site at www.opengroup.org/members_council:
During the Members Lunch on Tuesday, Ben Calloni
reminded members of the value-add that these Roadmaps provide to
members, in the way they enable all members to see at a glance what work
is underway in any of the Open Group's Forums and Work Groups, so they
can see at a glance what work is of interest to them and their business,
and when they might find it most opportune to visit that Forum or
Working Group to
participate in shaping the deliverable.
Ben also pointed out that the Members Councils have
put together a short questionnaire asking members for their feedback on
them what top three activities they feel would increase the value of their
membership and involvement with The Open Group. The Members Councils
officers will then review this feedback and see how we might add new
value.
