Adaptive Business Solutions

Objective of Meeting

The Adaptive Business Solutions Work Group exists to bring together providers and potential consumers of advanced software solutions, help customers evaluate these solutions, and facilitate dialog among technical and business stakeholders.

In particular, it works towards integrating agent technology into conventional enterprise technology. Logistics (supply chain, resource scheduling) and FSI (anti-money laundering) are among the most likely domains that will become the focal points for this.

The conference plenary included a session on "Adaptive and Collaborative SOA: Some Case Studies", which presented ideas that provided the context for the Adaptive Business Solutions meeting.

Given that context, the purposes of the meeting were to:

  • Investigate the solution space
  • Develop possible ABS solutions as part of the meeting
  • Identify the next steps to be taken by the Work Group

Summary

The meeting began with two presentations: one on collaborative IT, and the other an experience report from TV Guide on their use of agents in a recently developed system. The group then worked on developing two case studies: one for Internet-based user-interest applications, and the other addressing the energy industry.

Finally, the ABS Work Group members briefed The Open Group PR agency on several newsworthy case studies.

Outputs

The draft case studies were the key outputs of the meeting.

Next Steps

The next step is to develop and publish the case studies, to gain greater visibility, and increase participation.
