Day 3 Highlights
The third and final day of The Open Group IT
Architecture Practitioners Conference in Miami offered multiple streams
that addressed service oriented architecture, architecting business
transformation, key issues in enterprise architecture tools, architecture
deployment and business value realization, architecting the secure
enterprise, and an update on TOGAF™. TOGAF 8 case studies were presented
and a key part of the TOGAF stream addressed the future: evolving towards
TOGAF Version 9.
The information gleaned from all of these sessions
has provided conference attendees with greater insight into the evolving
role of the enterprise architect and how attendees’ varied and important
contributions to this profession will influence the future of enterprise
architecture and help fulfill The Open Group’s vision of Boundaryless
Information Flow™.
The Open Group has also issued some great news at
this week’s conference. The first announced that TOGAF 8 certification
testing is now available in a computer-based format at Thomson Prometric
Testing Centers worldwide.
On Tuesday, The Open Group announced a great
milestone: Open Group IT Architect Certification (ITAC) certification
has been achieved by more than 1,200 individuals since its debut just one
year ago.
Last, but certainly not least, on Wednesday, The
Open Group released information about a significant expansion of its
membership with 23 new companies joining the organization from around the
globe in recent weeks. These new members represent a diverse group of
organizations from across multiple industries, and include Philips,
Novartis Pharma, Wipro Technologies, and Unisys. For more information on
