This meeting was the regular quarterly meeting of the EMF, with time
allotted to several of the EMF projects, specificall, AQRM and CMPI. In
addition, there was a general strategy discussion that explored a potential
new architecture-based approach.
The following topics/project were discussed:
AQRM: The project team discussed the current state of the
project and developed a plan for a short-term deliverable in order to
provide a tangible output which would have value and could act as a
starting point for further work. This will take the form of a document
provisionally titled "A Guide to Best Practice in Enterprise QoS". This
document is intended to be delivered by the end of 2005.
CMPI: The CMPI project team discussed the revision of the
Technical Standard. A large number of issues were discussed and almost
all were resolved. The majority will be handled in a Technical
Corrigendum to be published as soon as possible, with a few being held
over to a full revision of the standard planned for the end of 2005.
Architecture: The Forum discussed the issues associated with
integrating Enterprise Management with the architectural approach being
promoted in other activities of The Open Group. There was a wide-ranging
discussion of what steps might need to be taken to achieve this, and how
best to scope out a new project in this area. The discussion concluded
with a proposal to develop a 1-page document describing the proposed
approach to use in recruiting further participants.
Board Report: Karl Schopmeyer made a report to The Open Group
Board on behalf of the Forum. This covered past, present, and future
activities of the Forum, and an overview of its interactions with other
Forums and with other organizations outside The Open Group. The report
was well received and useful feedback was provided.
