TOGAF Interoperability and UDEF

Objective of Meeting

The goal of this Birds-of-a-Feather meeting was to define the scope and charter of a project that would create an artifact about interoperability (a key requirement for Boundaryless Information Flow) suitable for reference within a future version of TOGAF.

Summary

The meeting was chaired by Ron Schuldt of UDEF-IT. It discussed the threads and issues raised in the presentation on TOGAF, Interoperability, and the Role of UDEF that he had given in the EA Frameworks and Tools conference stream earlier in the day. It then proceeded to consider how TOGAF addresses interoperability. It agreed on the need to develop additional material that could be referenced by TOGAF, but did not reach agreement on the form of this material, or whether it should be developed:

  • By an informal group as an Architecture Forum White Paper
  • By the Information Architecture project of the Architecture Forum
  • By a new project of the Architecture Forum
  • By the Semantic Interoperability Work Group

Outputs

This summary is the main output from the meeting.

Next Steps

The scope and constitution of a project to create an artifact about interoperability will be discussed further, with the aim of presenting a draft charter to the relevant group at the July Open Group conference.
