Information Architecture for SOA

Objective of Meeting

This was a joint meeting of The Open Group Semantic Interoperability Working Group and SOA Working Group.

The ultimate objectives of this activity are to:

  • Create a framework that enterprises can use to help them to develop information architectures for SOA
  • Make recommendations for the integration of this framework with TOGAF, ideally without making significant changes to TOGAF

The specific aim of this meeting was to produce a base document that can be developed to produce the finished framework.

Summary

The meeting discussed:

  • The business background
  • The reasons why enterprises need enterprise architectures in order to develop service-oriented enterprise architectures
  • The human and technology actors involved in the use of information architectures
  • What an information architecture should contain
  • The creation of information architectures within a TOGAF enterprise architecture development

Outputs

The meeting produced a presentation that was given in the conference on Tuesday April 22.

Next Steps

The next steps are to:

  • Convert the presentation produced during the meeting into a base document that can be further developed through review and comment
  • Form a project to develop the base document into a published standard
