Plato is an example of what is often called Groupware or Web Collaboration software. It has been designed so that a group of people, typically in a project or working group, can share items such as email, documents, actions, and calendar events, in a controlled area of the web using a web browser. Although every Plato site uses a standard set of common facilities, a maintainer can tailor a site for the group's specific needs. This tutorial provided an introduction to Plato for first time users, giving an overview of the features of the Plato Web Services Infrastructure and the benefits of using it. It also introduced the key concept of Visibility Levels. The session ended with a question and answer session.
