Adaptive Business Solutions (Open Meeting)

Objective of Meeting

The Adaptive Business Solutions Work Group exists to bring together providers and potential consumers of advanced software solutions, help customers evaluate these solutions, and facilitate dialog among technical and business stakeholders. In particular, it works towards integrating agent technology into conventional enterprise technology.

The conference plenary included a session on Enterprise Architecture and the use of Adaptive Technologies to drive Enterprise Transformation. In addition, there was a conference stream on "Web 3.0" investigating the convergence between Service-Oriented Architecture, Semantic Interoperability, and Intelligent agents.

Given that context, the purposes of the meeting were to:

  • Develop an agreed problem statement
  • Investigate the solution space
  • Identify the next steps to be taken by the Work Group

Summary

The meeting started with a presentation on "Events and Agents" by Work Group Chair James Odell of IAI, followed by a presentation on "The Web and Agents" by Mihaļ Moldovan of OSLO Software.

A workshop session worked on the development of an Adaptive Business Solutions case study in the publishing industry.

The meeting concluded with discussion of a roadmap for future ABS Work Group direction and effort.

Outputs

Detailed meeting minutes will be available to members of the Adaptive Business Solutions Work Group.

The case study will be developed by the Work Group and published on its public web page.

Next Steps

The group will work to publicize the value of Agent Technology. This could be done through further presentations at The Open Group conference in Austin, Texas in July. Also, the group will investigate the possibility of an agent-based application that could help members of The Open Group to make more effective use of The Open Group website.
