Plenary Reports

Objective of Meeting

This Plenary Reports session provided all attendees to the conference with the opportunity to hear about the activities going on in all the Forums and the Customer Council.

Summary

Terry Blevins gave a presentation (slides available to members and meeting attendees only) which in 30 minutes summarized:

  • What happened in the previous Member Meeting and Forum meetings in San Diego, Feb 2-6 2004
  • What has been happening between then and this Brussels conference
  • What our expected outcomes are from these meetings in this Brussels conference

Terry began with a reminder of The Open Group's vision for boundaryless information flow, and how this means that business organization boundaries must be made sufficiently permeable so as to enable necessary information flow across internal departmental boundaries and through external boundaries to its business partners and customers. He also gave a reminder of our mission to drive the creation of boundaryless information flow.

He then summarized in two slides per Forum the highlights of each Forum's activities and deliverables since the San Diego meeting, and what is expected to be achieved in this Brussels conference. The running order was:

  • Customer Council
  • Enterprise Management/QoS Forum
  • Real-Time & Embedded Systems Forum
  • Architecture Forum
  • Messaging Forum
  • Security Forum
  • Grid Enterprise Services Forum
  • Directory Interoperability Forum

With only 30 minutes to cover all these Forums, this summary report could only cover the highlights.

Outputs
