Directory Access Control SummitTuesday 2-5.30pm All delegates welcome Lack of a common access control framework is holding up progress on directory replication. Replication must encompass access control information if the security of the replicated information is to be preserved. But the core LDAP RFCs do not specify access control, and different directory servers have different access control regimes. Progress on developing a standard access control framework in the IETF appears to have stalled; there is a draft but it now looks unlikely to become an RFC. The Directory Access Control Summit will review the situation in the IETF, consider the views of the X.500 community and other interested parties, and look at the options for moving forward, in order to make recommendations to standards bodies and the industry on how to progress. The Directory Access Control Summit is a meeting of the Global Directory Forum, a "virtual organization" composed of the Directory Interoperability Forum and the EMA Forum of The Open Group, with the European Forum for E-Business (EEMA).
