Case Study: Successfully Implementing EA with TOGAF ADM

Many major enterprises launch, freeze, cancel, and revive their projects aiming at the definition and implementation of their architecture. Why are the enterprise architecture programs failing? We believe that establishing a working enterprise architecture process using TOGAF Architecture Development Methodology (ADM) has its own requirements. A working ADM cycle requires establishing governance and supporting organizational units, understanding the actual maturity level of the enterprise, setting SMART goals, planning it all within a realistic roadmap, and finally consistently implementing it. Our presentation aims at clarifying the relationship between the enterprise architecture framework, the architecture process, and the methodology to deliver projects. And we show what successful EA practices did different in order to succeed. Audience:- Individuals wondering how to "operationalize" TOGAF and make EA a success within their company Key takeaways:- 1. the TOGAF ADM Cycle well fits with any project methodology 2. the “vision" of EA becomes reality, when the architects have built trust and shifted from re-active to active mode initiating change projects rather than “governing” them 3. even an EA team "growing" in the IS department can direct the company there step-by-step in a planned manner
