The Use of Semantics in SOA Services

Service Oriented Architecture represents today the best approach to build complex systems. However, some limitations prevent to take full advantage of the potential  offered by this model. Services, the core of this architecture, needs to be better described to facilitate service interoperability and reuse. This paper proposes to use semantic to resolve those issues. It suggests an approach based on UDEF and OWL, identifies the needed technologies and tools, and positions them in a generic SOA architecture.

Audience: Architects, IT managers

Key takeaways:-
1. The concept of Service needs to be enriched
2. How semantic can be used at the Service level
3. Vision of a future SOA blueprint
