When One Size Does Not Fit All ­ Federated Enterprise Architecture in a Multinational Energy Company

When DONG energy was formed out of merger of several diverse energy companies Enterprise Architecture were high on managements agenda as a necessary prerequisite for making the merger a success. When newly merged DONG Energy embarked on their EA journey it became clear, that a federated approach was needed to both cater for the diverse business areas within DONG and to drive the necessary and expected standardization of core processes and core systems.
      
The presentation will outline the background for deciding on a federated Enterprise Architecture and will also explain how this are organized wirhin DONG energy to ensure an efficient implementation and drive home necessary and expected synergies, while still respecting the various viewpoints and needs of the constituent organizations. The presentation will highlight represenative examples of DONG energy’s approach to communication, architecture governance, architecture organization, architecture implementation and architecture methodologies.

Additionally the presentation will explain how the architecture work was kick-started with a time boxed three-month project spanning the entire organization and will finally give the current status and standing of Architecture within the organization.
