Presentation

Using Certification to Gauge Your EA Career Development

In creating the ITAC program, The Open Group has brought together a group of global IT Architecture profession leaders. All of us who are pursuing a career in IT architecture can benefit from the conclusions reached by that group. They established the assessment criteria for certification by listing the key skills and contributions that IT Architects need to bring to their activities in the creation of architectures that address business problems. For the certification program, the group also established the processes by which a candidate’s ability to meet this list of criteria is evaluated.

For the rest of us, whether we are students aspiring for a career in IT architecture, or experienced IT Architects desiring to achieve master certification status, we can use the listed criteria to evaluate our own strengths and weaknesses. We can then plan remedial action that will enhance our ability to be a good IT architect and eventually to strengthen our case for claiming certification.

That same list of ITAC criteria can also be used by those who are the leaders of IT architecture teams as the basis of an 11-step career path assessment and remediation plan for the members of the team in order to strengthen the team’s effectiveness.

Audience: IT Architects and those responsible for IT Architecture Teams

Key takeaways:-
1. The key skills and abilities identified by the ITAC Program.
2. How individule IT Architects can benefit from this list.
3. How corporate architecture teams can benefit from this list.
