  Joel Goodling, Group Enterprise Architect, ABB, Switzerland  


#Joel Goodling was appointed ABB's Group Enterprise Architect in February 2007. He is responsible for all enterprise architecture activities globally in ABB. He is currently building up an enterprise architecture function in ABB as part of a project intended to integrate enterprise architecture capability into the ABB Group.

Prior to his appointment as ABB Group Enterprise Architect, Joel was Head of Infrastructure Architecture for ABB globally. Earlier Joel held several IT Management positions in ABB while living in Poland and the United States.

Joel has worked for ABB for 11 years.

Adapting TOGAF™ for a Globally Distributed Enterprise

This session elaborates on ABB’s experience in adopting TOGAF™ to support a Global Enterprise Architecture Function. It relates the challenges faced and approaches adopted to manage different viewpoints of the function. It explores how TOGAF was instrumental in laying the foundation to enable architectural coherence in midst of such diversity.

ABB operates in more than 100 countries and has offices in 87 of those countries to give its global and local customers the support they need to develop and conduct their business successfully.  ABB works with its customers in these countries to engineer and install facilities and plants that enhance efficiency and productivity.  ABB employs about 115,000 people.
