Do's and Don'ts for successful SOA deployment

Today's innovative market leaders are in the forefront of implementing Service Oriented Architecture. Service Orientated Architecture is a business transformation enabler and is commonly acknowledged as the most cost effective way to integrate disparate systems together. SOA deployment is viewed in most of the organisations as an enterprise-scale initiative requiring a cultural change that impacts the business, technology, people and structure of the entire enterprise. A change of this scale necessitates highest-level of business, IT sponsorship and commitment.

A properly designed architecture helps you leverage existing equipment and software systems. It also reduces transaction costs, while improving visibility and control of business processes. The right solution also lifts several burdens from the IT department--like excessive maintenance activities, hard-coding integration efforts and manual information retrieval. However, more often then not a SOA deployment fails to deliver to its promise of flexibility and re-use. One common theme observed by various CIOs and IT directors is that SOA couldn?t deliver what have been presented in business case. As a business leader, you expect efficient transformation and not delayed deployments or IT problems in current economic climate.

This presentation highlights the do's and don'ts to make organisations successful in SOA deployment.
