Presentation
The Leader as Architect of Excellence in the Enterprise How do we achieve excellence in an enterprise? It is ultimately the leader through his example of character and determination who is the main architect of excellence in the enterprise.
The process of unlocking our potential, both in character and skills, is the process that establishes the value a person has for others and the world in general. That should be our focus. Excellence then is indeed more a process, a path that we choose than a performance or achievement. It is not a path with constant victories or successes. The failures and disappointments that characterise a path of commitment (we will not experience failure and disappointment if there was not some commitment and some expectation) make the path of excellence a difficult and challenging one. The difficulty lies in the discipline needed for excellence. As Aristotle rightly said, we are what we repeatedly do. Excellence is not an act but a habit.
