Presentation
Architectural Realization - Part II

In Jan 2006 I presented to the Open Group a set of slides entitled “Making the Architectural Dream a Reality - Basics to consider for a smoother transition”. In essence the presentation focused on outlining some basic approaches to ensure that the Target Architecture remains achievable.

This presentation will re-enforce the original message, build upon the original theme of realisation and introduce new concepts from research and project work undertaken.

The presentation will be structured to address the following questions;

  • The value proposition of Enterprise Systems Architecture (recap) to the Enterprise.
  • Realisation in the context of Enterprise Systems Architecture.
  • Potential ‘show stoppers’ for EA to flourish and to be realised.
  • Critical Success factors for realizing EA.
  • The EA parachute!

And as a bonus as the theme for Budapest is on Security we shall introduce a section on Security and Enterprise touch points.

The above points will be presented to promote the benefits of EA to two distinct audiences, i.e.;

  • Enterprise Architects – Those who must define and deliver the products and services of enterprise architecture and
  • Line Managers/Business Sponsors (often the IT Director) who need to ensure that value is derived for the business from consuming the above products and services.
