Presentation
Security in the Schools Interoperability Framework
The Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF) Implementation Specification
leverages open standards such as HTTP 1.1 and TLS 1.0 to secure the
transport of XML messages containing sensitive student-related data
between disparate applications installed in a pK-12 educational environment.
This environment can range from applications communicating within a
single school to sharing data at district, state and federal levels.
This session will examine the the three-pronged security model used
by SIF (encryption, authentication and access control) and the role
of a "Zone administrator" in securing the network of applications
interoperating in a SIF "Zone."
