WORKSHOP:
A Step-by-Step Approach to Architecting the Secure Enterprise
The TOGAF Architecture Development Method (ADM) forms
the core of TOGAF. It is a method for developing an enterprise
architecture to meet the business and information technology
needs of an organization. Pervasively throughout the
Architectural Domains and in all phases of the Architecture
Development, security concerns of the enterprise need
to be addressed. Discussion of Security Architecture
has the tension of being separate from the remainder
of Enterprise Architecture development and at the same
time needing to be fully integrated into it. In February
2005, the Architecture Forum and the Security Forum sponsored
a program to build a guide to the enterprise architecture
work related to security. This session is a look at the
working draft, and a view of the kinds of work undertaken
by The Open Group members for the non-members attending
the conference.
David Jackson is a Software Architect working in Software
Sales at IBM. David was the initial candidate certified
in the Security Discipline by the IBM IT Architect Profession
Board of North America, and he has been doing security
and enterprise architecture for the past 10 years. He has
spoken at previous Architecture Practitioners Conferences
of The Open Group and inside IBM on architecture practice
and methodologies. David is also the Vice-chair of the
Architecture Forum.
