Matthew
T. Daniels developed, launched, and currently manages
the Enterprise Strategy and Architecture department
at Citizens Bank Financial Group, a $137-billion
commercial bank holding company headquartered in
Providence, Rhode Island. Citizens has more than
1,600 branches, approximately 2,800 ATMs, and more
than 26,000 employees. Citizens is the 8th largest
commercial bank company in the United States when
ranked by deposits. The Enterprise Strategy and Architecture
department is responsible for the 3-5 year technology
strategy roadmap, business-to-technology alignment,
technology governance, and project-level architecture
design and technology guidance.
Prior to his five year career at Citizens, Matt
previously held senior technology and leadership
positions with Alltel Information Systems, Gartner,
and Eunetcom and has over 10 years of experience
in the technology arena, specifically in the areas
of Network and Data Security, large scale heterogeneous
networking, technology integration and engineering,
and application architecture.

Matt will be discussing ‘Setting up and Running an IT Architecture
Practice.’ In this presentation, Matt will discuss how he launched
an Enterprise Architecture practice at Citizens Bank Financial Group, issues
encountered along the way, and the pragmatic approaches used to make an Enterprise
Architecture practice “real” and relevant inside of the organization.
Matt will outline how they started, gaps found along the way, and ways to
bridge those gaps to keep the Architecture practice fresh and vital.
