Larry Krantz
Senior Technologist, Office of the CTO, EMC²
Larry
Krantz holds the position of Senior Technologist for EMC2 Corporation
based in Hopkinton Massachusetts. As part of the EMC2 Corporate
Technology Organization, Mr. Krantz is responsible for development
of the company’s long-term storage strategy, focusing on the
development and advancement of Enterprise Storage Networks and industry
consortium.
Mr. Krantz has enjoyed several key roles within the Storage Networking
Industry Association including Chairman of the Board of Directors.
He has been a contributing member of the SNIA executive team since
1997. As Chairman of the newly formed SNIA Storage Management Initiative
(SMI) Forum, Mr. Krantz led the executive team on the high priority
and profile SNIA initiative last year, establishing it as major contributor
to the standardization of Storage Management.
Serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Krantz was responsible
for the worldwide expansion of the SNIA, establishing Regional
Forums in Europe, and Japan. Mr. Krantz continues his international
role
establishing regional affiliates in China, Australia, and throughout
the Pacific
Rim. Mr. Krantz continues as an active member of the SNIA Board
of Directors enjoying his new role as Chairman Emeritus.
Mr. Krantz holds a B.S.E.E. from the State University of New York
at Buffalo with advanced studies in Control System Theory.

EMC and The Storage Networking Industry Association share the vision
of Boundaryless information flow with The Open Group. The introduction
and adoption of the Storage Management Initiative SMI-S specification
earlier this year is the first step for solving global, secure, and
reliable interoperability for storage networking management.
This talk
will focus on the contributions of the Pegasus CIMOM, its wide adoption
among the SNIA members, with a brief look at future requirements
of the Storage Management Initiative.
