  David Tillotson — Office of the Secretary of the Air Force    

David TillotsonDavid Tillotson III is Deputy CIO, Office of Secretary of the Air Force.

He is a member of the Senior Executive Service, is Deputy Chief of Warfighting Integration and Deputy Chief Information Officer, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, Washington, D.C. He serves as principal deputy to the Chief of Warfighting Integration and Chief Information Officer. He directs the integration of manned, unmanned, and space systems to create an integrated command and control, communications and computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capability for the Air Force. Mr Tillotson is responsible for the formulation and execution of long-range strategic plans for integration of C4ISR, Air Force experimentation and Air Force modeling and simulation. As the Deputy Air Force CIO, he is the principal deputy adviser to Air Force leadership on information management, information assurance, business processes and information technology standards. Mr. Tillotson works with the Air Force to ensure the conduct of information technology processes is timely, cost-effective, follows all applicable statutes, regulations, policies and standards, and provides the best available capability consistent with requirements and within available budget resources.

Mr. Tillotson was commissioned upon graduation from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1975. His assignments include ground theater air control system units with Air Combat Command and U.S. Air Forces in Europe, as well as at headquarters level with USAFE, U.S. Air Force and the North American Aerospace Defense Command. Mr. Tillotson has served as a unit commander with responsibility for conventional air defense employment and counterdrug operations with international law enforcement and air traffic control authorities. At the staff level, Mr. Tillotson has been responsible for air defense planning and system requirements, including air defense and air traffic control systems integration, in both NATO and North American settings.

Following assignments in operations, Mr. Tillotson moved to the Air Force acquisition corps, where he initially served as the Deputy Mission Area Director, Information Dominance, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition. He was assigned to the Electronic Systems Center at Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., as Chief of Experimentation with the Integrated Command and Control System Program Office and was responsible for the Air Force's Joint Expeditionary Experiment series. He then became the System Program Director for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Integration Program Office. Mr. Tillotson has also served as Director, Architecture and Operational Support Modernization, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Warfighting Integration; and Director, Policy, Planning and Resources, Office of the Chief of Warfighting Integration.
