RTIJoe Schlesselman is Director of Aerospace and Defense Technologies at Real-Time Innovations (RTI).

Joe's responsibilities at RTI include government standards, policy, information assurance, and customer advocacy for the Distributed Systems business unit.

His background includes time as a software developer, a system integrator, and a military officer. He is particularly interested in the Global Information Grid (GIG), Network Centric Operations (NCO), advanced Quality of Service (QoS), and trusted and secure real-time systems.

He is a frequent speaker on emerging networking, software, and Open System architecture technologies at government and industry events. He currently serves as Chair of the NCOIC Open Standards and Patterns Working Group.

The Gap – Enterprise to the Edge
In technology, as in sociology and biology, the most interesting and unpredictable dynamics happen at the interface of two separate worlds thrust together.

This phenomenon describes the two worlds of embedded/real-time and enterprise systems. Previously, these were thought of as separate domains, conceptually and physically partitioned from one another. Each had their own parlance, tools, patterns, techniques, and paradigms.

Yet convergence is upon us.

This session will examine how to bridge existing real-time and non real-time technologies in the near term, and how to plan for the future Global Data Space of interconnected temporal-aware systems.

Leading companies will describe both aspects: first bridging via practical, standards-based technologies, and next, demolishing the technological barriers and cognitive intransigence inhibiting the fusion of both domains.

Visionary speakers from RTI, Oracle, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon will present.
