Biography
Born in Athens in 59. Studied in France (Toulouse)
and obtained a doctorate in atomic physics in 85. He
worked as project leader and as network manager in
the private sector. Joined the European Commission
in 91. He worked for 8 years in the taxation and customs
area as project leader of the systems for taxation
and anti-fraud. He implemented some large transeuropean
information systems based on interoperability of the
heterogeneous national computer infrastructures. He
also managed the development of the distributed message
broker employed by all transeuropean taxation, customs
and anti-fraud systems which exchanges over 20.000.000
messages monthly among member state administrations.
In 99 he was appointed head of unit responsible for
IT in the antifraud area. His assignment for the last
3 years is head of unit responsible for architecture,
methodology and interoperability in the Commission.

Presentation
The enterprise IT architecture
activities in the European Commission
The European Commission decided in 2004 measures to favour
the interoperability of its computer systems and the improvement
of IT governance. These measures include the development
of an enterprise architecture framework and its operational
implementation. The presentation provides an outlook of the
organisation of IT in the Commission, positions the enterprise
architecture activities as part of the overall IT governance
and presents the first version of the Commission enterprise
architecture framework.
