Biography
João Serras Pereira (Portugal) heads the Innovation Centre at ISQ and has a background in Information Technology and Physics, being a former Portuguese representative to CENELEC Technical Committees and professor in disciplines including Informatics and Communications Systems; Systems Analysis; Knowledge Structuring and Management and Signal Processing. The Innovation Centre at ISQ clusters its research along two major edges: Knowledge Management and Non-destructive testing and measurement, supporting applications in advanced detection techniques covering areas ranging from Medicine to e-Government and Industry Organisation and Instituto de Soldadura e Qualidade (ISQ)shop-floor optimisation processes. Mr. Serras Pereira has particular expertise in two domains: Medical Informatics and Industry Process Maturity. His work involves the coordination of a number of process related research projects for Portuguese Industry and Government, with a significant part of this research conducted with financial support from European Commission under the Eureka, PEDIP, POE, EURPEAID and Framework Programmes.

Presentation
Case Study of a Successful EC Funded Research Project in IT Architecture will present the NETFRAME project, a project that has received €1.7 Million addressing research in business processes and IT architectures to improve customer-to-Manufacturer and Manufacturer-to-Supplier relationships within the Automotive and Aerospace industries. The NETFRAME project results will be presented along with the project elements that were important in meeting the requirements for European Commission funding.
