Presentation
Balancing Value, Cost, and Credibility in
EA Modelling
In Enterprise Architecture models a large amount of information
is stored. This information can be used to answer questions,
e.g. “How good is our information security?” or “How
can we improve data quality?”. To answer these questions
we must first know how to measure information security and
data quality. They can be measured in multiple ways, and
collecting all measures can be time-consuming and expensive.
So - what measurements should we collect? Firstly, collect
key measurements. Secondly, collect information that is easy
to find, and therefore cheaper to extract, and thirdly collect
information that has high credibility so that you can confide
in the answer. This is a balancing act. Just asking one person
is a quick way to find information, but can we trust it?
Does the person have the right knowledge or political reasons
to give that answer? A checklist for credibility and an overview
to information search cost is given.
