Peter Hungerford Biography
Peter Hungerford is an Enterprise Architect within the IS Strategy and Architecture Group of Syngenta (a world leading Agribusiness company).Syngenta His current work areas are Collaboration Technologies, Information Architecture, Future IT technologies (Technology Foresight) and Architecture Processes within Syngenta. He is also a Senior Syngenta Fellow.

Peter's previous work has taken him from being a physicist (D. Phil. from the University of Sussex, England) through IT Developer to IT Architect. This involved the development of Real-Time Control Systems, Database Systems and a variety of Infrastructure designs, working in diverse locations in Europe (France, Germany, UK and Switzerland).

Outside of work, sailing, surfing (wind), skiing, sport climbing, squash, star gazing and family are important. He is currently located in Basel, Switzerland and can be reached by e-mail (peter.hungeford@syngenta.com).

Presentation
Growing Architecture at Syngenta
This presentation will give an introduction to Syngenta as company highlighting its business, current markets and future aspirations in order to set a business context. We will then explore Syngenta’s evolution as a recently formed company and in parallel the development of the Enterprise Architecture (EA) looking at the IS Architecture Organisation (Line and Virtual); EA processes and tools. From this we will draw learning’s from what went well and where improvements are / were required. We will highlight not only the technical issues but also address softer questions such as skills, culture and communication when introducing Enterprise Architecture within a diverse and geographically spread company . As a conclusion we look forward and identify where we would like to be going with our EA and how academia and industry can help us, and others in a similar position.
