Biography
Since January 1999, Colm Butler has been with the Department
of the Taoiseach, heading up the Information Society
Policy
Division, which was put in place to push the agenda set
out in
the Government’s Action Plan for the Information
Society. Prior
to this, Colm was Deputy Secretary to the President,
working
with both Presidents Robinson and McAleese. He also served
as
Private Secretary to the Taoiseach, to the Government
Chief Whip,
and to the Minister for Economic Planning and Development
at
different periods between 1977 and 1994. Colm has also
worked
in computer sales for Memory Computer and Cara (1986-1990),
and was attached to the Central Data Processing Services
(CDPS)
in the Department of the Public Service (1973-1977).
