Presentation
Approaches to Semantic Interoperability in Service Oriented Architecture Semantic interoperability is of vital importance in the context of SOA. Service providers and Consumers need to communicate seamlessly with a clear understanding of the message payloads being carried out in any service invocation. We cover the prominent ways of achieving semantic interoperability in SOA: including approaches involving enforcement of a universal information model, to involving highly proprietary semantic adapters. This talk explores four practical ways of optimally enforcing semantic interoperability in the context of SOA: Vertical XML based domain-specific vocabularies, Canonical XML frameworks like Universal Data Element Framework (UDEF), Semantic Web based dynamic ontological frameworks, and Semantic mediators. In particular, UDEF is a focused initiative from the Open Group to address semantic interoperability in SOA.
