Enterprise Architecture Services - The Value-Add for Offshoring
Indian software industry has been growing exponentially moving
steadily through the three P's of service levels-from the P1 (People
based ) to P2 (Project based) to P3(Product -IP based) globally.
However, traditionally, their major involvement commences once the
projects are well established. Enterprise Architecture evolution,
particularly in US./Europe, is ushering in a new era of high value
services and opportunities to get actively involved with the Fortune
1000 organisations at a business strategy level. Through establishing
the right credentials and trust with major customers, this can be
expanded to include projects which have a clear Enterprise
Architecture focus. TOGAF(The Open Group Architecture Framework)
provides a logical step by step process which both the Customer and
the Service Provider can work in a synergistic and systematic process
while supporting the wider TOGAF/ Enterprise Architecture eco system
comprising of complementary skills, certification schemes and
tools.
EA Maturity Model as Entry Point for EA Services
Though the global EA market has been moving from an 'awareness' state to an 'implementation' state, EA maturity is perceived to be at a low level, across the board, even among the top tier organisations. The EA
maturity models themselves are maturing gradually and addressing the major challenges of measuring business benefit realisation. Maturity models have to necessarily have an inward looking perspective analysing processes, skills and tools/technology. However, an
external perspective from the viewpoints of the various stakeholders is the key to EA success. TOGAF provides the framework for EA
maturity assessment which can be expanded and tailored to suit specific situations. This presentation outlines the practical
approaches to EA maturity assessments and the way it can be deployed across organisations in various stages of EA development and evolution.
