Presentation
Enterprise Architecture Governance

Enterprise Architecture essentially consists of Business Architecture, Information & Data Architecture, Application Architecture and Infrastructure. Depending upon the requirements of an organization there could be more architectures like Security Architecture, Operations Architecture and Integration Architecture.

Based on the study of the existing environment the AS-IS scenarios of the identified architectures are documented. The business vision would determine the TO-BE scenarios and the architectures. To move from the AS-IS to TO-BE scenarios an implementation roadmap is defined.

Governance is the process that enables the roadmap’s implementation as well as ensures that any changes that would occur to the TO-BE architectures or the processes involved in the post implementation phase are handled without turbulence.

A sound enterprise architecting principle is to have a well laid out governance process in place well before the change from AS-IS to TO-BE scenarios is carried out.

The Architecture Governance will involve:

  • Architectural Principles
  • Governance Environment
  • Governance Structure and
  • Escalation process

Based on our consulting experience and research of standard literature following are some of the points that need to considered for implementing the governance model:

  • 1.Having a body of architecture principles
  • 2.Having a repository of best practices, standards and guidelines
  • 3.Defining roles and responsibilities of concerned stake holders
  • 4.Establishing Architecture Review Boards, Architecture Governance bodies and the like
  • 5.Establishing Project Management Offices to carry out the roadmap implementation in consonance with the established architecture bodies

During the presentation these factors of Enterprise Architecture Governance would be discussed in detail.
