Architecting Identity
Across SOA Boundaries
Most current identity management approaches consider solutions from the perspective
of perimeter security technology based tokens , focused on authentication and
authorisation operations. Yet most enterprise identity initiatives also have
to come to terms with commerce transactions that touch on other aspects of
Identity: associations with Orders, relationship to CRM attributes, and links
with Accounts all typically layered according to SOA principles.
Using project-based case studies, this session will explore
the challenges of Identity Management in a contemporary,
distributed SOA environment: how you balance the needs of
authenticating identity for legislative/ policy reasons,
authorise according to commercial entitlements, while maintaining
common (consolidated) data and consistent interfaces across
access control, commerce and account/ transaction management
systems. It will evaluate the (sometimes conflicting) solutions
perspectives of security systems versus commerce systems
when integrated according to services oriented dictates and
explore how and whether - evolving frameworks such as the
Liberty Project might address integration through common
semantic and technological approaches.
