Presentation
Model-Driven Identity
Management Architecture: a Case Study
The
US Federal Government is in the process of revamping its Identity
Management requirements from top to bottom. It has defined
various levels and methods for internal authentication needs and
is actively examining the needs of its citizens to interact in
an appropriately authenticated manner. Many complexities
have arisen out of this effort. Under the guidance of both the
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the General
Services Administration (GSA), the government is working with industry
to resolve these problems.
This presentation will examine some of these efforts; focusing on the authentication
element of Identity Management.
The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) of the GSA and its Chief Architect
are proposing a way, based on Object Management Group’s (OMG) Model Drive
Architecture (MDA) to simplify the examination, analysis and solution development
process to these problems. The GSA has partnered with Industry, and especially
the Financial Services community, to examine, holistically, these problems.
We will review MDA based efforts under way at both the eAuthentication Partnership
( www.eapartnership.org) and the Financial Services Technology
Consortium (FSTC) to bring together Government, Industry and Standards that will
help simplify the implementation of truly interoperable and federated authentication
capabilities, and we will discuss the joint efforts of The Open Group and the
OMG to integrate MDA and TOGAF.
