Conor Cahill is a Chief Architect for AOL's Platform Technologies and Architecture group  where he helps guide the architecture and development of platform technologies.  Mr. Cahill has been an active participant in the Technology Expert Group of the Liberty Alliance since the project was founded nearly three years ago to establish open standards for federated identity and identity-based Web services.

Presentation

Identity Management Standards - Liberty Alliance

The Liberty Alliance specifications, first introduced publicly in April 2002, have achieved wide and rapid adoption across the globe, with public implementations announced by organizations such as AOL, France Telecom, Fidelity, GM, Nokia, American Express and NTT.  By the end of 2005, it is estimated that more than 400 million Liberty-enabled devices will be shipping worldwide.

In this session, Conor Cahill, chief architect for AOL and technology expert group participant within Liberty Alliance, will provide an update on the Liberty Alliance specifications (both the Identity Federation Framework and the Identity Web Services Framework and Services), discussing their impact on business practices and outlining the convergence work that Liberty Alliance is doing with other open standards organizations.

A case study of AOL's use of Liberty specifications will conclude the presentation.
