The Intersection and Divergence of Government Wide Contracts and IT Standards

The NASA SEWP (Scientific and Engineering Workstation Procurement) Contract Vehicles were first set-up in the early 90s to provide NASA (and subsequently the rest of the Federal Government) with a set of easy to use IT Product Contracts which would provide access to the latest technology.

This talk will examine the issue of what, if anything, standards mean in the practical world of large scale procurement activities and to also ask the question of what lies ahead for both SEWP and standards.
