Net-Centric Operations
Carl G. O’Berry
Vice President, Strategic Architecture, Boeing Integrated Defense Systems
Carl O'Berry
is spearheading Boeing's efforts to enable existing and future systems
and platforms to become interoperable. As seen through the war in Iraq,
today's military forces have limited ability to share data. There are many
efforts underway to gain the high ground of freely shared data data and
information among multiple-agency and command participants in complex operations,
and open standards and architectures are at the focus of such efforts.
The military, and other security elements of the nation, are increasingly
aware of the essentiality of open standards in order to transform from "stove-piped" systems
to fully interoperable and highly responsive networks. Achieving this objective
will result in unparalleled capability to preserve peace and protect our
homeland.
