Meeting Report
Meeting Subject
Cannes, France - ..day, October 1n 2002
Objectives of Meeting
Develop a detailed work plan for 2003, on the basis of the workshop
discussions and the outcome of the TOGAF Version 8 company review resolution.
Plan for the next Members' meeting in Burlingame, CA.
Summary
- Proposed Projects for 2003: The session drafted a "wish list"
of projects and project ideas.
- TOGAF PR / Marketing: There was general agreement that a key
focus in 2003 should be on "outreach" - promulgating TOGAF and getting it
accepted within the industry. A list of potential outreach targets was made.
- TOGAF versioning and development life-cycle:
- With certification being based on TOGAF Version 7 (at least for the time being), and
Version 7 needing to be kept live and accessible to support certification, TOGAF has
effectively split into a Technical and an Enterprise Edition. We need to understand the
implications of this.
- An effective outreach program depends on sufficient bandwidth - which implies a longer
TOGAF development cycle.
- The planned launch of certification programs also implies a longer TOGAF development
cycle, to allow certifiees to recoup RoI in the certification program.
- Future meetings:
- A UK regional meeting is planned for later in the year, at which it is hoped to progress
the joint MDA / TOGAF work with members of OMG.
- San Francisco meeting in February:
- There was detailed discussion of the next Architecture Forum meeting
- There is an OMG meeting the previous week at the same venue.
Outputs
As above.
Next Steps
John Spencer to draft a plan embodying all these ideas, and route for review ahead of,
and for approval at, the San Francisco meeting.
