Building ROI from Cloud Computing

Cloud Computing Based Solutions That Meet Your Business Needs - A Framework and Tools from The Open Group The adoption of cloud computing based solutions has been severely hampered by the lack of support for the expression of cloud computing delivery specifications in business terms. The existing vocabulary and use cases are intended for an IT audience, and the financial models are presented from a service provider's perspective. Recognizing these gaps, The Open Group Cloud Workgroup has developed a set of artifacts; including a cloud business taxonomy, business use cases, adoption strategies, and RFP input. In this session we will outline how to use these artifacts to express your cloud computing delivery specifications - including the non-functional (QoS) attributes.

In this session you will learn:

  • How to introduce the "Cloud ROI score cards" to help you define where Cloud computing may be an option for your business
  • How to use the "Cloud Buyers Questionnaire" to articulate you functional and QoS (Quality of Service) requirements for inclusion in solution specifications and resulting service contract SLAs
  • How to apply the Cloud business use cases - including financial analysis - to your business scenarios.
  • What to consider in developing your cloud computing adoption strategy
