The Intentional Enterprise in an Uncertain World
(Monday Plenary)
Effective enterprise architecture development requires a dual focus. Architects have historically focused on intentional design. Designing architectures to allow for and manage uncertainty has emerged as an important objective. Increased risks and threats in the cybersecurity area are bringing uncertainty management into focus as a critical requirement.

- Variance Management: Where Security and Architecture Meet
- Effective Information Security Management
Cybersecurity has become a “front and center” issue for IT organizations in every industry. Security of our cyber-connected infrastructure is critical to many aspects of our daily life - water, electricity, gas, oil, transport, telecommunications, food, health, security services (police, military), financial banking services, and more – most of which depend on IT systems to control and deliver them.
The Open Group Boston Conference will feature a number of high-profile speakers who will speak to cybersecurity threats, and the challenges that governments and private enterprises alike have in responding to this issue. Building security into enterprise architectures is critical to achieving an adequate security posture. In addition, with the rapid adoption of public cloud computing services, cybersecurity becomes even more critical, as more of our computing becomes reliant on the internet and it’s vulnerabilities to Denial of Service (DoS) and other attacks.
Cybersecurity is something that no organization can afford to ignore. Plan to attend this conference and learn the latest about cybersecurity threats, and response strategies for enterprise and government, including integrating security into the development of enterprise architectures.
As Enterprise Architecture matures there are many challenges which face the fledgling profession, but perhaps the most troublesome is how to find a way to communicate effectively with the business.
