The Identity Management work area is undertaking two major work items: the Roadmap
White Paper and the Implementation Catalog Survey. In addition to the discussion of these
items, there was a presentation on Identity Management in Healthcare, a review of further
requirements input, and a discussion of Enterprise Architectures for Identity Management.
The White Paper is an analysis of the current situation and of gaps in understanding
and standardization, which will enable the Work Area to define its position and strategy.
Lead author Skip Slone of Lockheed Martin presented an incomplete draft, and work items
were assigned for the addition of further sections.
The Implementation Catalog will enable vendors to record details of their Identity
Management products in a uniform way that will allow meaningful comparison by customers.
Ilya Burdman of NASA presented a draft of the survey form. A range of comments were made,
which will result in improvements to the draft.
Chris Gervais of Partners Healthcare gave a presentation on Identity Management at
Partners. This presentation gave an excellent explanation of the issues faced by a large
healthcare organization with a diverse range of patient-care applications, faced with the
need to conform to government legislation.
The Security Forum is working on requirements for Identity Management from a Security
perspective, beyond those described in the Identity Management White Paper. The state of
this work was reviewed by the meeting.
The Enterprise Architectures discussion focussed on corporate Identity Management
standards. Nick Mansfield explained that he is writing a Corporate Identity Management
standard for Shell. He described the issues and asked for discussion and input from the
group.
